If you’ve been looking for an acoustic guitar that can do anything, one that will be a lifetime musical companion worthy of you and your music, look no further. The Country Western 60s Original is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, and, in addition to its outstanding acoustic tone, it comes equipped with the new Gibson-exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA™ pickup system. HiFi DNA offers unprecedented realism when amplified, delivering the unique tone of your guitar and every nuance of your playing to your audience like never before.
Our customers have been asking for it by name, and we heard you loud and clear. The new Gibson Country Western 60s Original brings back the most beloved version of this legendary model. It features a mahogany back and sides paired with a Sitka spruce top for a rich, vibrant tone with excellent balance of bass, midrange, and treble. This classic tonewood recipe also makes the Country Western 60s Original extremely versatile; it is an outstanding option for country strummers, rock ’n’ roll lead guitarists playing single-note lines, and fingerstyle players alike.
The 24.75” scale mahogany neck features a comfortable Round profile, making it “just right” for the majority of hand sizes. The neck is attached to the body using a compound dovetail joint and hot hide glue, which results in excellent vibrational transfer and optimal tone. The rosewood fretboard has a comfortable 12” radius, so it’s equally well-suited for expressive string bending and easy chording. It is fitted with 20 standard frets and adorned with mother-of-pearl split parallelogram inlays.
The headstock is equipped with smooth-turning, reliable, sealed-back Gotoh® tuning machines with white buttons. It also features a bone nut and is adorned with the Gibson logo and crown, both inlaid in mother of pearl. The other ends of the strings pass over a bone nut and anchor into the rosewood belly-up bridge with TUSQ® bridge pins. The Country Western 60s Original features a tortoiseshell-colored pickguard with no graphics.
Installed inside is Gibson’s exclusive, custom-voiced Baggs™ HiFi DNA pickup system. This minimally invasive design uses two lightweight, flexible sensors mounted on the bridge plate, each with its own preamp and EQ to eliminate interaction and inductance issues. Summed to mono, they deliver a more accurate amplified version of your guitar’s unique voice, with no loss of dynamic range, and yield a true representation of the character, warmth, and response that Gibson acoustic guitars are famed for, with comparable gain-before-feedback to an under-saddle pickup. Discreet soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls are easily accessible during performance while remaining nearly invisible to your audience.
The Gibson Country Western 60s Original is handcrafted by the expert luthiers and craftspeople at the Gibson Acoustic Craftory in Bozeman, Montana, to be a guitar you can rely on anywhere, from the couch at home to the world’s largest stages. It comes packed in a Gibson hardshell case for safe storage and transport, and is ready to give you a lifetime of enjoyment.
